Each project at GoHT embodies a commitment to positive change, community welfare, and sustainable development in the Nilgiri Hills. Through focused initiatives and collaborative efforts, these projects strive to create a lasting impact on the lives of the local communities they serve.

Climate Smart Resilient Farming (CSRF)

The CSRF Project is a forward-thinking initiative by Garden of Hope Trust (GoHT) aimed at establishing 12 OAC (Organic Awareness Centers) in 12 different climatic zones across the Nilgiris district. Recognizing the challenges posed by climate change, this project focuses on empowering local farmers to adopt climate-smart techniques. Through extensive training, resource support, and community engagement, CSRF strives to enhance resilience, promote eco-friendly farming methods, and secure sustainable livelihoods for the farming communities.

Education is a critical agent in addressing the issue of ecology and climate change.
GoHT undertakes educational and public awareness campaigns on climate change, ecology, biodiversity, citizen science, traditional ecological knowledge and to ensure public participation in programmes and information access on the issue.
Education can encourage people to change their attitudes and behavior; it also helps them to make informed decisions. In the classroom, young people can be taught the impact of global warming and learn how to adapt to climate change. Education empowers all people, but especially motivates the young to take action. Knowing the facts helps eliminate the fear of an issue which is frequently colored by doom and gloom in the public arena.

Rejuvenation of Traditional Tribal Herbal Medicinal Practices (RTTHMP)

RTTHMP is a transformative project that endeavors to preserve and revitalize the traditional herbal medicinal practices of tribal communities in the Nilgiri region. Led by Balasubramaniam and supported by a team of dedicated individuals, RTTHMP involves training key village health workers, documenting indigenous knowledge, establishing medicinal herb gardens, and nurturing a gene pool nursery. The project aims not only to safeguard traditional practices but also to promote the use of medicinal plants for the well-being of tribal communities.
